Hydrogen is considered a key technology for the climate-friendly transformation of maritime applications, ranging from shipping and port infrastructure to coastal energy and logistics concepts. The workshop will address current strategic, technological, and economic issues and discuss them using practical examples.

The program includes technical presentations on transformation pathways, infrastructure needs, and regulatory frameworks, as well as insights into specific applications of hydrogen technology. Speakers from industry and research will present, among other things, solutions for the production, storage, and utilisation of hydrogen, as well as innovative propulsion concepts for maritime applications. The program is complemented by a pitch and panel session, as well as guided tours of the Gebr. Friedrich GmbH & Co. KG Shipyard .

While hydrogen is often discussed in the context of mobility, stationary applications are becoming increasingly important. They make a significant contribution to the integration of renewable energy, the stabilization of energy systems, and the decarbonisation of industrial processes. The event provides a platform to discuss current developments across the entire hydrogen value chain—from production to infrastructure and storage solutions to utilisation—and to promote professional exchange between research and industry.

As part of the innovation roundtable, participants can expectexpert presentations on current challenges and potential solutions for stationary hydrogen technologies. Key topics include storage requirements in the future energy system, hydrogen microgrids for self-sufficient energy supply, decentralized hydrogen production from biogas, and current research and development efforts in the field of stationary hydrogen applications. Guided tours of the HyCATT Research Center and the test field round out the program and offer insights into the practical testing and scaling of innovative hydrogen technologies.

The event was once again jointly organised by the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE, DLR Institute of Networked Energy Systems and ZBT – Center for Fuel Cell Technology.

It was two varied days with exciting presentations, interactive formats, laboratory tours at DLR in Oldenburg and plenty of room for discussions and networking.

Many employees took the opportunity to take advantage of the day’s offerings – from health measurements to workshops and individual coaching. In view of the goal of raising awareness of personal health and safety in the working environment, the day can be considered a complete success.
