9th Symposium on Plastics in Fuel Cells and Electrolysis

How can plastics help make fuel cells and electrolysers high-performance, durable, and cost-effective?

This question is the focus of the 9th Symposium on “Plastics for Fuel Cells and Electrolysis,” which will take place on 25 and 26 November 2026, in Duisburg The event brings together experts from industry and research to discuss current developments, technological challenges, and practical solutions.

Technical Program: Materials, Components, and Technologies

To kick things off, participants will take a tour of the ZBT to get a glimpse of the fuel cell laboratories and the plastics technology center. The subsequent lecture series will highlight the diverse applications of plastics. Topics range from catalyst-coated membranes and seals to plastic components in fuel cell systems and the processing of highly filled compounds.

On the second day of the event, the focus will be specifically on components and materials for water electrolysis. Presentations on compound bipolar plates, the use of plastics in PEM water electrolysis stacks, and high-performance fluoropolymers, elastomers, and compounds will highlight current developments and challenges. The program is rounded out by a session on the certification of components in fuel cells and electrolysers.

Practical Experience, Networking, and Exchange

Ralph Müller of Toyota Germany places a special focus on practical applications in his presentation titled “Full Load, New Energy: Hydrogen in Heavy-Duty Transportation.” The presentation covers technological approaches, current industry collaborations, and prospects for future mass-production applications.

In addition to the technical presentations, the conference offers numerous opportunities for personal interaction during coffee breaks, networking sessions, and a social evening.

We look forward to welcoming you in Duisburg on 25 and 26 November 2026!
