ZBT’s Successful Participation in STADTRADELN 2026

The “ZBT Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Center” team finished this year’s STADTRADELN with a strong overall performance. The 21 team members collectively cycled 5,385 kilometres. That averages out to 256 kilometres per person. In the overall Duisburg rankings, the team placed 32nd out of 247 teams.

Research Associate Lutz Volmering racked up the most kilometers, covering 1,203 kilometres during the campaign period and thus becoming the ZBT’s STADTRADELN champion. In addition to numerous daily commutes, he completed, among other things, a tour through the Dolomites and climbed a total of 12,415 meters in elevation.

Background: STTADTRADELN

STADTRADELN is an international campaign organised by the Climate Alliance that encourages municipalities to cover as many trips as possible by bike, a climate-friendly mode of transportation, within 21 days. The campaign period is set by the participating municipalities between early May and late September. This year, more than 1.1 million people across Germany have already participated, collectively cycling around 220 million kilometres.
