Indian business and science delegation at the ZBT

It’s always nice to have visitors! We recently welcomed an Indian business and science delegation to the ZBT. The exchange focused on the upscaling of electrolysis, hydrogen applications and fuel cell technology. A visit to our hydrogen test field was of course also part of the program.

What is the state of the art in electrolysishydrogen and fuel cells? What infrastrukture and logistics will be required for a hydrogen-based energy system? We recently discussed this with an Indian business and science delegation here at the ZBT.

ZBT science communicator Dr. Theresa Schredelseker first gave an overview of current developments in the field of hydrogen in Germany and Europe and introduced the institute and its facilities. She used project examples to provide insights into our work. ZBT scientist Deborah Rapp supplemented the presentation with our activities in standardization work (RCS – Regulations, Codes and Standards).

ZBT scientist Lukas Willmeroth then gave the guests a tour of our hydrogen test field and explained the hydrogen test filling station, among other things.

Many interested questions from the guests about raw material requirements, hydrogen in mobility and ammonia, among other things, quickly got the conversation going. An interesting side aspect: as most water heating in India is electric, it will be much easier to switch to renewable energies in this sector than in Germany with its many gas boilers.

The visit was organized by the Indo-German Energy Forum (IGEF-SO) Support Office, the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce and the Deutschen Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
