The ZBT is one of Europe’s leading research institutes for fuel cells, hydrogen technologies and electrolysis processes. The ZBT is a sought-after research and development partner in European and national cutting-edge research and in industrial projects focussing on automotive applications and stationary energy generation.
From molecular structures to parts and components to entire systems, from the production of green hydrogen to refuelling and reconversion to electricity, from prototypes to small series and mass production – with our application-oriented research and development, we form a bridge between basic university research and industry, and the ZBT is a sought-after research and development partner in European and national top-level research and in industrial projects with a focus on automotive applications and stationary energy generation.
impratial and independent
The ZBT operates as a non-profit limited company in a neutral and independent manner. The University of Duisburg-Essen has been the sole shareholder since 2005. The original ZBT director, Dr Peter Beckhaus, is in charge of the business, while Prof Dr Harry Hoster is the scientific director.
Equipment
Our approximately 180 employees have access to an outstanding technical infrastructure, which includes high-performance testing facilities, chemical laboratories, high-tech analytics and production facilities.
