Campfire: Container-based cracker gas engine CHP for remote off-grid application in the power range of one megawatt

The aim of sub-project CF12_1 is to develop a container-based NH3 CHP plant for stationary (‘remote off-grid’) application in the power range of one megawatt.

In addition to initial literature research, the development steps include various evaluation steps for critical components of the gas engine, through to detailed planning and implementation of the container CHP plant, including integration of the NH3 cracker and necessary safety equipment.

After a multi-stage commissioning process, various test trials will be carried out to test the general mode of operation and optimise operating strategies, including stationary and flexible start/stop operation. In addition to optimising efficiency, the focus will also be on minimising exhaust emissions.

Finally, the results will be used to plan further or comparable plants.
