With the Golden Bipolar Plate, the ZBT Sponsors’ Association honours outstanding commitment in the field of hydrogen technologies. The focus is on teams that use their expertise, courage and perseverance to make technical solutions visible and effective. The award recognises achievements that often occur in the background – and yet are crucial for progress.

What is the Golden Bipolar Plate?

The Golden Bipolar Plate is an award for special team achievements in the field of hydrogen technologies. It is awarded by the ZBT Sponsors’ Association in recognition of commitment, innovative strength and exemplary work along the entire value chain of hydrogen solutions. The award is aimed at teams from research, development and practice whose work makes a tangible contribution to the further development and dissemination of the technology.

Award ceremony as part of the ZBT Hydrogen Days

The award ceremony takes place annually as part of the ZBT Hydrogen Days. The Golden Bipolar Plate is presented there as a visible sign of recognition – embedded in an environment of exchange, expert impulses and networking. In each case, an achievement from the previous calendar year is honored in retrospect.

2025 awarded: Forze Hydrogen Racing

The first Golden Bipolar Plate (award year 2025) went to Forze Hydrogen Racing – a student team from Delft University of Technology. Around 60 students, around 35 of them full-time, are working with impressive professionalism to make fuel cell electric drive technology visible and competitive in motorsport. Olivier de Boer, Daan van Gils and Jakob Krawielitzki accepted the award on behalf of the entire team at the ZBT Hydrogen Days in February 2026.
