ZBT welcomes international and national delegations: insights into hydrogen research and technologies

In recent weeks, ZBT has welcomed several exciting visitor groups who have been intensively engaged with the latest developments in the field of hydrogen technologies and infrastructure.

Delegation of Indian SMEs visits ZBT

At ZBT, we welcomed a delegation of representatives from Indian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), organised by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. During the visit, Vimanshu Chanda, gave an overview of ZBT’s activities in the field of electrolysis, while Theresa Schredelseker presented other key areas of focus for the centre.

Following a short tour of the main laboratory, Stefan Bever informed the guests about storage technologies and infrastructure issues at the hydrogen test field. The test filling station and the DAC2Methane plant currently under construction aroused particular interest. Many thanks to Jana Salcedo Strausfeld and the team at eclareon GmbH for the excellent organisation of the visit.

Visit by the VDI associations from Bochum and the Ruhr area

Within a week, we welcomed interested people from two VDI associations. ZBT communications manager Theresa Schredelseker explained hydrogen, hydrogen technologies and the path to a hydrogen economy. Both groups were given a tour of our premises, with different thematic focuses as requested.

The Bochum group was mainly interested in fuel cells and hydrogen mobility. ZBT Managing Director Peter Beckhaus used an original fuel cell stack from a hydrogen car to clearly demonstrate how a fuel cell system works and provided insights into our research and development work between the fuel cell test benches.

The VDI Ruhr District Association was primarily, but not exclusively, interested in ammonia as a hydrogen storage medium and fuel and the corresponding technologies. Project manager Fausto Tidona therefore focused on our ammonia test benches during the laboratory tour. Alexander Kvasnicka, group leader for plants and storage, then showed the visitors our test facilities for hydrogen storage and refuelling at the hydrogen test field and explained our activities at the test field and the test filling station.

Thank you to Dr Rolf F. Ahlers and Ulrich von der Crone for visiting us!
