The TransHyDE project aims to develop innovative transport solutions for green hydrogen and test their practical suitability. A series of demonstration projects are investigating various technologies that enable the safe and efficient transport of hydrogen. The focus is on four main methods: transport in high-pressure containers, via gas pipelines, as ammonia and in liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHC).
A central concern of the project is to consider the entire hydrogen value chain – from production and transport to utilisation. Technical, safety-related and regulatory issues are being addressed. In addition to the further development of existing infrastructure, the conversion of LNG terminals for handling hydrogen-based energy carriers is also being investigated.
TransHyDE is a decisive step towards an efficient and sustainable hydrogen infrastructure that will contribute to the realisation of a sustainable energy supply. The practical research and development work aims to deliver viable solutions for large-scale hydrogen transport in the long term.
