AlFaKat – Scalable PVD technology for cost-efficient catalysts in AEM electrolysis

In this project, electrochemical catalysts for AEM electrolysis are being further developed using PVD powder coating. This produces core-shell catalysts, which are processed into electrodes and finally into membrane-electrode units and tested under near-application conditions in individual cells. The easily scalable PVD technology in combination with the use of base transition metals as active components should enable cost-effective and large-scale catalyst production for AEM electrolysers.
