Coordinated by our Research Manager Dr. Theresa Schredelseker, we therefore launched a peer mentoring program in January 2024. We are delighted that eight people interested in doing a doctorate have already signed up for the program in the first year. In a first meeting, Dr. Marco Grundler reported on how he managed to complete his doctorate alongside his work at the ZBT. Our scientific director Prof Dr. Harry Hoster was also present as an important sparring partner for the topic discussion. He is now looking forward to supervising so many exciting new dissertations.
However, the most important element of the program is probably the peer-to-peer exchange. After all, a peer mentoring program is all about the participants supporting each other. If someone has just (re)invented the wheel and submitted the form to be filled out, or created the outline, then both the exchange of experiences and the subtle peer pressure helps the others.
We are pleased that this program has now started with such highly motivated eight scientists and hope that we can continue to support their doctoral projects in the best possible way in the following terms.
