Duisburg’s local transport is becoming more sustainable – hydrogen buses refuel at ZBT

Duisburgs erste Brennstoffzellenbusse sind da. Zu Schulungszwecken tanken sie an der ZBT-Wasserstoff-Testtankstelle. Mit ihnen wird der Duisburger Nahverkehr demnächst noch sauberer.

The hydrogen test filling station at our hydrogen test field was allowed to really step on the gas: We had the great pleasure of filling up the first eleven fuel cell electric buses of the Duisburger Verkehrsgesellschaft (DVG) for training purposes. Duisburg’s Mayor Sören Link and DVG CEO Andreas Gutschek did not want to miss out on this opportunity and followed the process live at the test tank.

Our hydrogen test field team was clearly delighted to support DVG with its comprehensive expertise and state-of-the-art technologies to ensure the smooth refuelling of the new fleet.

We are delighted about this important step towards environmentally friendly mobility in Duisburg – and are proud to be part of this development. The common goal: to promote zero-emission hydrogen buses in local transport and improve the carbon footprint of the city of Duisburg.

The buses are now being equipped with DVG’s own communication technology. Regular service is scheduled to start at the beginning of 2025. The buses will then get their hydrogen at the filling station currently under construction at the depot. Anyone who thinks that its construction has been delayed is mistaken. The filling station is on schedule; the buses arrived earlier than expected.
