7. Materials Chain International Conference

At this year’s MCIC2025 at Ruhr University Bochum, our scientists (pictured: Bastian Kaufmann, left, Moritz Pilaski, right) were there to learn about and discuss the latest research findings – and to present our work.

For a sustainable energy future, we need innovative material systems that can efficiently generate, store and convert energy while minimising the impact on the environment. This requires a dual focus on researching and developing new materials and accelerating the transfer from academic research to large-scale production.

As an application-oriented research institute, ZBT – The Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Center bridges the gap between basic research and industrial application.

We work both in publicly funded projects with partners from science and industry and in research and development projects on behalf of industry and small and medium-sized enterprises. In addition, we offer a wide range of services in the fields of analytics, material characterisation, testing and qualification procedures, and technical consulting.

The Materials Chain International Conference brings together leading scientists from the field of materials science to discuss the latest advances and applications of future materials for energy systems. The event provides a platform for discussing current research results, exchanging insights and promoting cooperation.
