At ZBT, you will work in a motivated, collegial team on solutions for the clean energy system of tomorrow. The doors of your colleagues and supervisors are always open (unless they are closed), and there is always someone available to listen to your questions and challenges.

ZBT offers its employees a lot of freedom and opportunities for development – for fun at work and a good work-life balance. A flexible flexitime system, generous mobile working arrangements, 30 days of holiday for full-time employees (plus Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve and Shrove Monday) and the option of part-time work allow you to adapt your working hours very flexibly to your needs.

Work-life balance, compatibility of work and family? It probably doesn’t get any better than this!

And those who can work together can also celebrate together. We do this twice a year: at the start-of-year party, it’s just us, and at the summer party, families and former employees are also invited.

The ZBT is located on the Duisburg campus of the University of Duisburg-Essen and is easy to find from all directions. Many of our employees therefore come to work by bike. Under certain conditions, you can even lease a job bike from us.

Public transport also takes you very close to the ZBT. With the Jobticket/Deutschlandticket, you can travel cheaply. Some of our colleagues even combine train and bicycle, which they park at Duisburg Central Station, for example.

For those who come by car, we have a limited number of employee parking spaces, almost all of which are equipped with charging facilities for electric cars. The new university car park is also available right next door.

Fill your stomach at lunchtime to recharge your batteries? The University of Duisburg Essen canteen is just a stone’s throw away – for an uncomplicated, healthy lunch. Alternatively, there are several snack bars and restaurants within walking distance. There are also cafés and bistros nearby for snacks between meals. We also have a few kitchens at the institute where you can heat up or cook your own food.

Are you looking for an employer for whom sustainability is not just a word? We use solar power from our roof and otherwise purchase certified green electricity.

We are also committed to sustainability when it comes to business travel and prefer to travel by train to appointments. Two fuel cell electric company cars are available for business trips with a lot of luggage. For short distances, you can also use our electric cargo bike. Air travel is only approved in exceptional cases.

And our sustainability working group deals with many other issues to ensure that we become an increasingly sustainable institute. Our goal: to be climate neutral by 2045.

We are a diverse bunch – the ZBT stands for openness and tolerance. You can feel that in everyday life. Nevertheless, we continue to work with our diversity working group to improve in this area as well.
