ZBT has established the injection moulding manufacturing process of graphitic bipolar plates. In order to guaranty a stable process, a safe and automated quality assurance is required. Such a procedure has been developed in cooperation with our partner, the "Gesellschaft zur Förderung angewandter Informatik GFaI e.V." during a project financed by the German ministry for economics. 

The application of different lightening and exposure techniques allows the detection of several important quality assurance parameters such as e.g. thickness, deflection or capillary cracks. On the one hand, these parameters are important for a proper functioning of a fuel cell and on the other hand they are essential for safety reasons. Thus the results of this project constitute another step towards the market launch of fuel cells. In the context of a new project in cooperation with different industry partners the quality assurance process is being optimized with regard to series production.
