The aim of this sub-project is to expand and optimise a reactor concept for the synthesis of ammonia. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In a further development of the previous reactor concept based on flow control elements, the power density of the Haber-Bosch reactor is improved by hybridising two operating approaches. The reactor with flow control elements developed as part of the CF06_1 joint project will be further developed into a hybrid fluidised bed\/fixed bed reactor with integrated active cooling, and the active catalyst surface will be increased. Furthermore, the heat integration of the solid oxide electrolyser will be improved through an innovative approach. The reactants and thermal oils used in the available steam generation systems for high-temperature electrolysis are used for cooling. In addition, catalysts for the novel hybrid Haber-Bosch process are being screened. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>These optimisations enable dynamic operation of the Haber-Bosch reactor, which is necessary for operation with renewable energies. The functional model of the plant implemented in the COIL will have an output of 200 kW el with a production rate of 3\u20135 kg H2. A control and regulation system for hybrid process control is being developed for this purpose.
