Twelve students from the Kaarst-B\u00fcttgen Comprehensive School visited ZBT as part of their project course\u00a0“Fuel Cells and Sustainable Energy”<\/b>\u00a0to learn first-hand about the technology of the future.<\/p>\n

In a short introductory presentation, ZBT scientists Elisa K\u00fcgler, Fabian Bergenthun and Roland Bartholom\u00e4us introduced the activities and work areas of the institute. Afterwards, the students could ask the scientists their questions and discuss with them. During the subsequent tour through the\u00a0labora\u00adtories<\/b>, the\u00a0workshop<\/b>\u00a0and the\u00a0injection molding hall<\/b>, and finally over ZBT\u2018s\u00a0hydrogen test field<\/b>, there were exciting insights into research and development of fuel cell technology.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n

But the highlight of the day for many was the opportunity to\u00a0assemble a fuel cell stack themselves<\/b>. “It’s simply much better to learn with all your senses,” thinks Roland Bar\u00adtho\u00adlo\u00adm\u00e4us. “Something like that sticks in the memory.”<\/p>\n

At Kaarst Comprehensive School, a project course on “Fuel Cells and Sustainable Energy” is running this school year in the 12th grade. Despite the still tense Corona situation, course instructor Christian Cramer doesn’t want to forgo\u00a0field trips<\/b>. “It is important to me to show the students that the technology is future-proof and relevant,” says the teacher of chemistry and Catholic religion, explaining the reason for the visit to ZBT.<\/p>\n

At the following lunch in the university canteen, the topic of fuel cells was still hotter than the food.<\/p>\n
