Peer mentoring program for doctoral students launched<\/h1>\n

The intensive collaboration with industrial and academic partners does not make it easy for employees at application-oriented research institutions to develop independent research work into a\u00a0dissertation<\/b>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Some of our employees are\u00a0interested in doing a doctorate<\/b>, but find it difficult to find time and peace for their own topic between all the project work. What’s more, many of them don’t know exactly what formalities need to be fulfilled for the application and the work itself.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Coordinated by our Research Manager\u00a0Dr. Theresa Schredelseker<\/a>, we therefore launched a\u00a0peer mentoring program<\/b>\u00a0in January 2024. We are delighted that\u00a0eight people<\/b>\u00a0interested in doing a\u00a0doctorate<\/b>\u00a0have already signed up for the program in the first year. In a first meeting,\u00a0Dr. Marco Grundler<\/a>\u00a0reported on how he managed to complete his doctorate alongside his work at the ZBT. Our scientific director\u00a0Prof Dr. Harry Hoster<\/a>\u00a0was also present as an important sparring partner for the topic discussion. He is now looking forward to\u00a0supervising\u00a0<\/b>so many exciting new\u00a0dissertations<\/b>.<\/p>\n

However, the most important element of the program is probably the peer-to-peer exchange. After all, a peer mentoring program is all about the\u00a0participants supporting each other<\/b>. If someone has just (re)invented the wheel and submitted the form to be filled out, or created the outline, then both the exchange of experiences and the\u00a0subtle peer pressure<\/b>\u00a0helps the others.<\/p>\n

We are pleased that this program has now started with such highly motivated eight\u00a0scientists<\/b>\u00a0and hope that we can continue to support their doctoral projects in the best possible way in the following terms.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n
