Current political decisions on hydrogen were discussed during a visit to ZBT by Susanne Menge, Member of the German Bundestag, and Dr Sebastian Ritter, Mayor of Duisburg. The focus was on the economic viability of alternative drive systems and the future of green hydrogen.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Current\u00a0political decisions on hydrogen<\/b>\u00a0are causing a lot of uncertainty in science and industry. We were therefore delighted to be able to talk about this with\u00a0Susanne Menge<\/a>, a member of the German Bundestag, who visited us this week together with our Duisburg mayor\u00a0Dr Sebastian Ritter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Menge is active in the Bundestag’s\u00a0Transport Committee<\/a>, among other things – which is why the discussion about hydrogen in mobility was particularly exciting. A key topic was the economic viability of alternative drive systems. Even if this is not yet the case today, this will change in the future, ZBT Managing Director\u00a0Peter Beckhaus<\/a>\u00a0is certain. However, the pressing question is: How do we bridge the time until green hydrogen is available economically and at reliable prices?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n

We spoke to Susanne Menge about the open letter from\u00a0Clean Energy Partnership e.V.<\/a>, among other things. We and many other institutions and companies have co-signed it to emphasise the urgency of the issue, explains ZBT veteran\u00a0Joachim Jungsbluth<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Alternative drive systems are not a question of either\/or, but of diversification in mobility, emphasises ZBT scientist\u00a0Christian Spitta. However, the economy is currently reluctant to make investment decisions in the mobility sector, which is hampering innovation and economic efficiency. ZBT scientist Deborah Rapp believes: It’s time to break this vicious circle!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n
