E-methane is a climate-neutral energy source once the carbon has been captured from the air. A project that has just been launched is exploring the technical possibilities.  <\/h4>\n        <div class=\"intro__text\"><p><b>Electricity from renewable sources<\/b> is sometimes available in excess and has to be <b>curtailed<\/b>. The expansion of renewables will further exacerbate this effect. To <g id=\"gid_2\">store <\/g>and <g id=\"gid_3\">transport <\/g>this energy efficiently, green electricity is increasingly being used to produce <g id=\"gid_4\">hydrogen <\/g>(H2). However, the expansion of the hydrogen infrastructure is not yet very advanced.   <\/p>\n<\/div>\n            <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n<section class=\"teaser-grid teaser-grid--white\"\n    dir=\"ltr\">\n    <div class=\"teaser-grid__content\" dir=\"ltr\">\n        <h2 class=\"teaser-grid__heading\"><\/h2>\n        <div class=\"teaser-grid__text\"><p class=\"bodytext\"><b>Green hydrogen<\/b> can be converted into <b>methane <\/b>using carbon dioxide (CO2) captured from the air. This climate-neutral energy source can be fed into the existing natural gas grid without any problems. This means that the stored energy can be easily transported and is available for long-term use.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">In the <b>DAC-2-E-Methane<\/b> cooperation project, <a class=\"internal-link\" title=\"Opens internal link in current window\" href=\"https:\/\/zbt.de\/en\/institute\/\">ZBT<\/a> and its partners are investigating an innovative solution for converting large quantities of electrical energy into methane.
