Amin from the University of Duisburg-Essen were honoured at the <strong>CENIDE Best Paper Award 2024<\/strong> in the category \u2018Functional materials for energy applications\u2019 for their publication \u2018<strong>Key Control Characteristics of Carbon Black Materials<\/strong> for Fuel Cells and Batteries for a Standardised Characterisation of Surface Properties\u2019.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n            <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n<section class=\"teaser-grid teaser-grid--white\"\n    dir=\"ltr\">\n    <div class=\"teaser-grid__content\" dir=\"ltr\">\n        <h2 class=\"teaser-grid__heading\"><\/h2>\n        <div class=\"teaser-grid__text\"><p>Carbon blacks (CBs) are mainly used in <strong>electrocatalysis <\/strong>as carrier materials for nanoparticulate <strong>electrocatalysts<\/strong>. The interactions between the CB surface and the catalyst dispersion are complex. The surface properties of the particles affect the electrode layer and influence the performance and service life of fuel cells and batteries.  <\/p>\n<p>In their study, the research group investigated commercially available CBs, focusing on <strong>application-relevant key characteristics<\/strong> (KCCs), including electrical conductivity, surface chemistry and particle dispersibility.
