Grand Opening: New Hydrogen Laboratory “HyTechLab4NRW” at ZBT<\/h1>\n

State Secretary Silke Krebs from the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of Economic Affairs will officially open the new \u2018HyTechLab4NRW\u2019 hydrogen laboratory at ZBT on 26 September 2024. Admission is free, registration required.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The infrastructure, including media supply, in our\u00a0main laboratory<\/b>\u00a0has been comprehensively modernised and brought up to the latest state of the art. \u201cHere we can now develop and test\u00a0fuel cells, plant components, and even system-related plants in\u00a0larger power ranges<\/b>, for example for mobility or energy supply applications,\u201d says ZBT`s Managing Director Dr Peter Beckhaus, looking forward to the new possibilities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Professor Harry Hoster, Scientific Director of ZBT, adds: \u201cIn the HyTechLab4NRW, we develop and analyse\u00a0new materials\u00a0for innovative energy converters, such as\u00a0noble metal-free catalysts<\/b>\u00a0for electrolysis and fuel cells.\u201d Other functional surfaces, such as corrosion protection coatings and new materials for sensors to ensure the quality of\u00a0hydrogen, are also being investigated here.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Hydrogen derivatives\u00a0will be essential in the future for the transport and use of renewable energy. Bernd Oberschachtsiek, Operations Manager, who is overseeing the laboratory renovation, also sees this area strengthened at ZBT: \u201cOur capabilities for the development and testing of\u00a0ammonia technologies<\/b>\u00a0have been significantly expanded as part of the laboratory renovation.\u201d<\/p>\n

ZBT is a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian Johannes-Rau Research Association (JRF<\/a>). The laboratory opening on\u00a026 September 2024\u00a0will therefore take place within the proven framework of a\u00a0\u201cJRF on Site\u201d event<\/b>. This means that in addition to the usual speeches, there will also be\u00a0tours<\/b>\u00a0of the new HyTechLab4NRW and the institute,\u00a0information stands<\/b>\u00a0on various topics we work on at ZBT, and opportunities for information exchange and networking.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n
