Electrochemistry and coating

The department Electrochemistry and Coating comprises two main working areas. The first area is the electrochemical analytic of fuel cells and their components ex-situ as well as in-situ in the working stack or single cell. The second area is
concerned with the coating of electro catalytic active layers as electrodes for fuel cells, their characterisation and their optimisation. Main focus of the department is set on low temperature polymer electrolyte fuel cells (NT-PEMFC), but activities in the area of middle temperature polymer electrolyte fuel cells working are planned. Outstanding equipment for fuel cell tests (single cells and short stacks) as well as analytic devices for diverse ex-situ component tests are available and used within projects and offered for testing services. Additionally by means of fuel cell modelling (incl. CFD) investigations regarding cell optimization are being supported.
